Vaseline

Vaseline, also called petrolatum or „vaselinum album“, is mainly used in pharmaceutical cosmetics as a component for ointment and cream bases. Vaseline has skin protective, water-repellent and strengthening effects. It can be used for cold protection or as a protection against friction (e.g. buttocks ointment; Intertrigo). It also serves as a base for manufacture of bag balm. Vaseline usually is durable for a long time. This raw material corresponds to the Pharmacopoeia.
