Star Anise GPH Capsules

The star-shaped fruits of true star anise (Illicium verum) are considered a delicious Christmas spice, known for their pleasantly spicy, slightly sweet flavour, and are used in many punches and gingerbread recipes. In Chinese cuisine, star anise is a key component of the traditional five-spice powder and enhances poultry and meat dishes with its intense flavour. But star anise offers much more than just a culinary appeal: the dried cluster fruits have a high proportion of essential oils, particularly trans-anethole, which constitutes at least 86% of the essential oil content. The decorative fruit also contains flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and shikimic acid. The ingredients of star anise stimulate the glands of the gastrointestinal tract, providing a beneficial effect on digestion and helping to prevent the formation of excessive digestive gases. Additionally, the essential oils of this spice are partially excreted via the lungs. For this reason, and due to its mucus-promoting properties, star anise supports the respiratory tract and aids in expelling germs.
