Lavender or narrow-leaved lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is a species of the labiates family (Lamiaceae). Alcoholic preparations of lavender were used for relaxing linaments for rheumatic complaints, nerve and limb pain, as well as circulatory problems. In folk medicine it is also used for restlessness, difficulty falling asleep, upper abdominal complaints such as flatulence, irritable stomach or nervous intestinal complaints.
