The aromatic caraway (Carum carvi L.) which is also called common caraway, meadow caraway or field caraway is a plant species of the genus Apiaceae. Its ingredients include essential oil, tannins and resin. The caraway has antispasmodic and digestive properties and is therefore used for flatulence, stomach and intestinal cramps. But it is also used in cases of gall bladder weakness and problems with fat digestion.
