In his family, Frederic Ribwort Plantain is known to everyone as a dreamer. Day in, day out, he longingly watches the clouds in the sky above the nearby herb meadow. Frederic imagines in the most beautiful colors how wonderful it must be to marvel at the world from high above. One day, a bee buzzes past him. When it notices how sad Frederic is, it asks what is wrong with him. Frederic plucks up all his courage and tells the bee about his big dream of flying. “Nothing could be easier,” she smiles mischievously. The bee calls two of her friends, who join forces to carry Frederic up into the air. The little plantain can’t believe it: Blissfully, he lets the wind blow through his leaves and beams with joy. The meadow, indeed the whole world, is even more beautiful from above than Frederic could ever have dreamed.
