Sanguisorba (Sanguisorba officinalis L.) belongs to the rose family (Rosaceae). Sanguisorba contains, among other things, triterpene saponins (e.g. sanguisorbin), tannins and flavonoids. It has always been said to have an anti-bleeding effect. In folk medicine, it is said to have beneficial effects on inflammation of the mouth and throat.
