Description
Moringa Tea
The moringa tree, also known as the „tree of life“, originally stems from the Himalayan region of north-west India and is considered as the new superfood. This undemanding and extremely drought-resistant tree is rich in countless minerals, proteins and vitamins. Due to its high content of mustard oil glycosides, the moringa tree is also known as the „horseradish tree“. The hormone zeatin, which is present in considerable concentrations in the plant and ensures the rapid growth of the moringa tree, facilitates the absorption of the other valuable ingredients and additionally decelerates the ageing process. It was not surprising that in 1997 an aid project was launched in south-west Senegal by the CWS (Church World Service) together with the development aid organisation AGADA (Agir Autrement pour le Développement en Afrique) with the aim of combating malnutrition and undernourishment in women and children using moringa leaves. The result: the overall condition of the treated group improved significantly, the supply of nutrients increased dramatically, new-born children had a higher birth weight and the mothers recovered more quickly from the birth. On the whole, Moringa leaf tea contributes to cover the daily requirement of important vitamins, minerals and trace elements.
