The khella fruits, also known as bishop’s weed or toothpick carrot, an umbelliferous plant, contain khellin (furanocoumarin), the heart-active glycoside khellinin, flavonoids and pyranocoumarins (visnadin). The plant was already used in ancient Egypt, and today the ingredients are said to have a positive effect on blood circulation in the heart muscle and for cramps.
