Deanol is also known as dimethylaminoethanol, or DMAE for short. In larger amounts, it occurs in certain fish such as sardines, salmon, and anchovies. In smaller amounts, it is also naturally present in the human brain, where it is involved in a number of reactions that form acetylcholine — a substance found in the brain and other parts of the body. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that helps nerve cells communicate with each other and is therefore involved in all processes related to learning and memory. Deanol also protects the cell membrane, increases the resilience of cells, and thus contributes to longer cell lifespan. Deanol 120 mg GPH capsules have therefore also proven useful for skin firming.
