Zedoary or also called white curcuma (Curcuma zedoaria) is a plant species of the genus Curcuma in the ginger family (Zingiberaceae). Originating from India, the saffron root species is primarily used as a medical plant in East Asia, where it grows in the tropical rainforest regions. The rootstock of zedoary is large and branched, the leaves can grow up to one meter long and the flowers have an intense smell. It is known that the citric root is popularly used for stomach, gall bladder and liver complaints.
