The condurango shrub (Marsdenia cundurango) comes from the silk plant family (Asclepiadaceae). Especially useful is the dried bark with its ingredients: condurangosides, steroid saponins, flavonoids and coumarin derivatives. Condurango bark is ascribed to have positive effects on digestive pain and stomach problems. In folk medicine, the bark is also used as a bitter agent. It can increase the secretion of saliva and gastric juice and help with a lack of appetite.
